According to Lexus, this lowering provides a more streamlined and aerodynamic body that will allow it to reach higher speeds faster. And what’s a sports car without dual exhaust? Interestingly, Lexus has said that they do not want to compete with other luxury sport sedans. Rather, they’d like to be considered a class all their own. That’s quite a lofty goal that they may just reach with the IS-F.

Accordingly, Lexus has priced the IS-F at around $55,000. While normally this would be considered high in a North American market, for what Lexus has produced, it may be under-priced. With all the luxury of the Lexus brand, but all the power of Detroit muscle, that will certainly be a hard combination to beat. Just released in early 2008, the small market of buyers is already raving about its superior performance and tasteful luxury. However, the Lexus IS-F is only being built at a restricted number.

Lexus IS-F will be marketed as a luxury sports sedan in America in 2008. The IS-F is powered by a generous 400 horsepower 5.0L V8. The “F” in IS-F is Lexus code for flagship, meaning that this is just the beginning of what the public will get to see of the IS-F model.

According to the Concept Carz website, Lexus developed the IS-F strictly on Japanese terrain. The Fuji Speedway got to experience the all-new sports sedan before Americans even laid eyes on it. Like in any true sports car, the IS-F boasts a transmission fluid and engine oil coolers. This will allow the car to get more horsepower at higher speeds without overheating as easily as other vehicles. Also, Lexus has given the IS-F a standing-start acceleration mode. The IS-F can reach 60 mph in less than 4.9 seconds, outdoing the Mercedes S Class, impressive for a straight-from-the-factory sedan.

Lexus always scores well with regard to dealership service. British Top Gear and Auto Express have had Lexus at the top of their survey results for most of the past fifteen years, and quality and reliability continue to be the main selling points for Lexus throughout the world.
The slogan Lexus uses in the United States is, “The passionate pursuit of perfection.” With user experiences like those represented above, perfection just might be attainable.

In the nearly two decades since it was launched, the Lexus marque has developed a reputation for reliable vehicles and excellent customer service. Based on its Vehicle Dependability Survey, which aggregated data from more than 47,000 vehicle owners about the problems they experienced in the first three years of ownership, the consumer ratings firm J.D. Power and Associates named Lexus the most reliable brand in the United States in 2006, making it the twelfth consecutive year that the car maker has achieved such a rating. In recent years, Consumer Reports has included Lexus in its list of the most reliable brands, based on its annual Car Reliability Surveys, which include data about over one million cars around the country.

There are two engines, a 3.5-liter V6 and a high-output electric motor. Total horsepower for the system is 340 with the zero to sixty leap taking only 5.2 seconds. (Top speed is 131 mph.) Estimated fuel economy is 25 mpg city and 28 highway.

Occupants are protected by double air bags in the front as well as by bags mounted in the seats to cushion the impact of a lateral collision. Bags are also present in the curtain and knee position for the protection of the driver and front passenger. (Rear passengers enjoy the benefit of side and curtain bags.) Systems are in place for the control of traction, stability, and tire monitoring. The doors have beams to absorb impact and crumple zones are present to the front and rear. (A camera to monitor reverse motion is also standard.)

The dash and center trim selections on the 2007 Lexus GS 450h are golden or black bird’s-eye maple or red walnut. Perforated leather is used for the trim on the door and the seats with a combination of wood and leather on the steering wheel and shift knob. Optional systems include pre-collision detection, navigation controlled by voice commands, a premium audio unit, and XM Satellite Radio.

V8 style acceleration, the fuel efficiency typical of 6 cylinder engines and exhaust emissions usually associated with an eco-friendly 4 cylinder. The Lexus hybrid engine operates seamlessly and provides a quiet ride. Both the interior and exterior are crafted of high quality materials and feature an outstanding fit and finish. Successfully bridging the gap between ‘green’ and ‘ performance’, the Lexus GS450h is a force to be reckoned with and it also achieves better gas mileage than would be expected for a midsized sedan. In conjunction with Lexus’ other GS sedans, the GS450h receives minor upgrades for the 2008 model year that include new front fascias, restyled gauges and the addition of side view mirror integrated turn signals. The attractive ‘ Black Opal Mica’ was also introduced as a new paint color for the GS450h this year.

Its extraordinary 340 horsepower is just one of the strengths of the Lexus GS450h. The 3.5-liter V6 engine, in combination with a high output electric motor, provides power seamlessly to the rear wheels through a continuously variable transmission. As is typical of hybrid technology, the GS450h uses the electric motor and will engage the V6 engine as necessary. However, what is uncharacteristic of a hybrid is the Lexus GS450h’s impressive acceleration-from a standstill or when midrange passing is required. This hybrid sedan can go from 0 to 60 in just over 5 seconds and the gas/electric hybrid powertrain achieves admirable EPA ratings of 22 mpg in the city and 25 mpg highway.

The 2008 Lexus GS450h represents the flagship of the Lexus GS lineup. It comes standard with a full compliment of premium luxury features including 18 inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, a sunroof, adaptive suspension dampers, heated and cooled leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, interior wood trim accents, Bluetooth technology, a back-up camera, keyless start and a 10 speaker audio system with in-dash CD changer and auxiliary audio jack. There are only a few options to choose from that include a navigation system, satellite radio, active anti-roll bars, a rear spoiler and an outstanding 14 speaker Mark Levinson audio system.

There seem to be no significant disadvantages to ‘going green’ with the 2008 Lexus GS450h. Overall, its combination of performance and luxury is quite impressive, which is unusual for a hybrid. Consumers looking for maximum driving force with minimal fuel consumption in a truly chic package should be more than satisfied with the GS450h.

Competitors include the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Acura RL, BMW 535 and the Cadillac STS which are quite similar in price.

The luxury-level Toyota company uses the 2009 Lexus GS to show off its stylistic design advancements to the rest of the world. The 450h is Lexus-sleek. Its simplistic beauty is a definite understatement of all that this care actually offers you. Overall dimensions measure 190 x 71.7 x 56.1 inches (l x w x h) and the gross vehicular weight is 5200 pounds. Its stock 3.5L V6 engine cranks out 292hp and it comes with a 2-speed continuously-variable transmission (CVT) .

Of course, the cabin space is classily accentuated with real wood and genuine leather. It’s as quiet as a mouse as well. You actually cannot hear exterior noises without cracking the window. With a drag coefficient of only 0.27, the 2009 450h by Lexus flies through the roads with optimal levels of fuel-conserving ease. High-level-discharging headlamps illuminate your path like the sun itself and for those times when you can’t see, the car has eyes of its own to help out. It continuously scans the surrounding areas and lets you know when danger is near with an audible alarm. Heated mirrors also have a defogging feature installed and the windshield senses even the smallest drops of rain or snow.

Scuff plates of stainless steel greet you as you enter the keyless entry doors. Drag your shoes on them to keep the elegant cut-pile carpeting free of debris and dirt. All safety features that you would expect are of course included as well. Not surprisingly, the NHTSA awarded the 2009 GS 450h with its highest crash test rating - 5 stars.
